Pathway Fellowship Church: Building a Pathway from the Streets to a Home
For decades, Pathway Fellowship has served the Orangevale community with steady, practical compassion. In December 2025, we took a bold next step. We purchased the property next door so we can build a community center and 30 units of program-based transitional housing—expanding our capacity to offer dignity, structure, and a genuine new beginning to people who are ready for one. We are also deepening our commitment to care for senior citizens and veterans in our community.
We see the growing pressures around us: rising addiction, joblessness, homelessness, and incarceration, compounded by the rising cost of living that is especially hard on seniors and veterans. We are clear-eyed about the difference between a handout and real help. For those who truly want change and are willing to do the work, our programs have already been life-changing. Now it is time to do more of what works—and to do it at a scale that meets the need.
What Is Already Working
Pathway currently hosts seven AA meetings each week. These groups are growing, and more are seeking space. Sobriety and support are often the first steps, but lasting change requires more.
We also host two broader recovery meetings each week. These address issues beyond alcohol and drugs and are likewise growing. We need larger, more suitable space so more people can take that next step forward.
Every week we provide hot showers, a meal, and basic necessities for people experiencing homelessness. Today this happens from a trailer in our parking lot with only two shower stalls. The lot fills up. In summer, people wait in the heat. In winter, weather sometimes forces us to cancel. Even with these limitations, the results are remarkable: people shower in the morning, interview for jobs in the afternoon, and many get hired. We have begun providing bicycles so those who land jobs have a reliable way to get to work. A shower and a bicycle have already changed lives. The new community center will replace the trailer with 4–6 indoor shower stalls and a proper room for meals—removing weather barriers and expanding capacity.
We also walk closely with men who have been incarcerated through our partnership with Freedom Through Education, California’s most successful re-entry program. The program teaches life skills, job skills, budgeting, and the practical tools needed for a stable return to society. Freedom Through Education reports a 95% success rate. Through mentoring and discipleship, we have watched men rebuild their lives with purpose, accountability and gratitude.
A True Pathway Forward
The community center will allow us to expand every current service and go further. Alongside it, 30 apartments will provide managed, program-based transitional housing. This is not a shelter. Housing is part of the program. Those who follow the requirements receive housing. Those who do not follow the program lose it. There are no traditional tenants—only participants in a structured re-entry pathway.
To move from the streets to a home of one’s own, participation in a re-entry program is almost always required. These programs typically include job training and employment assistance; counseling and substance-abuse or mental-health support; life-skills education; help with education, transportation, and daily routines; and temporary or transitional housing. The goal is clear: equip people with tools and accountability so they can reintegrate successfully, avoid returning to jail or the streets, and move toward independent, stable living. Participants are expected to follow rules, attend required meetings and classes, and work toward concrete goals such as employment and permanent housing.
To maximize impact and operate with excellence, we have partnered with organizations that are already experts in this work:

The need is real, the results of our current work are measurable, and the opportunity ahead is significant. With the community center and program-based housing, Pathway can offer more people a clear, accountable path from crisis to stability—and strengthen the entire Orangevale community in the process.
How You Can Help
We have partnered with a developer who will fund the large majority of this $6 million project. Pathway has already invested over $145,000. We have an immediate need to raise $45,000, and over the next 90 days we will need just $300,000 to bring the project to completion.
